We are using so many herbals,animal products,metals and minerals for the preperation of siddha medicine.Some of the plant,animal and metals and mineral origin drugs are naturally toxic. Therefore these drugs are to be purified in order to enhance their therapeutic action and to reduce to reduce their toxicity.some of examples are given below 1)Plant origin:Nuxvomica: cut the drug to pieces and boil in Amaranthus root decoction.Dry and fry in ghee 2)Animal origin:Pearl :Soak them in cow's curd for 24 hours.wash well soak them in lime juice and vinegar for a day in each,wash with water and dry.3)mineral origin:calamine:steam with lime water,wash and dry.
