Scientific Validation of Siddha Medicine Nilavembu Kudineer:
Nilavembu Kudineer is a combination of 9 plants. Andrographis paniculata (seemai Nilavembu) , Vetiveria zizanoides (Vettiver) Andropogon muricatus (Vilamicchaver), Santalum album (sandhanam), Trichosanthes cucumerina (Peipudal), Cyperus rotundus (Korai kizahngu), Zingiber officialis (Chukku), Piper longum (Milagu), and Mollugo cerviana (parapadkam). Each one ingredient has its marker compounds which determines bioactivity of each chemical molecules. Based on this NKC was formulated and gifted by the Siddhars. Here, the major ingredient Andrographis paniculata, contains Andrographolide, an antiviral agent (published in peer reviewed journals) which mainly acts on the different types of structural proteins / membrane proteins of different strains of Dengue (Type I,II,III,IV) and deactivates the viral replication (bioinformatics docking study Nithya et al., 2014 - our Research Team, https://www.idosi.org/wjam/1(2)14/2.pdf). The rest of the ingredients act as a calayst, immunomodulatory and the complications of Dengue (needs to be proved by invitro and invivo studies). The whole hypothesis is called “Synergism”/ Synergistic activity” (Modern Scientific concept). This concept has been accepted by Universal Scientific community. NKC was also formulated based on the above mentioned concept.
The toxicity studies for NKC was carried out (Unpublished article and Masters thesis) by our Research team which supports the non - toxic nature of the NKC under prescribed dosage.
Our ISM Research Team (Anna University - KBC Research Centre) has been working on Siddha Medicines such as Adhathoda Manapagu/ kudineer churnam, Gandhaga Mezhugu, Annabedi Chenduram, Bavana panchakula Thailam, Kattu, in collaboration with NIS, CTMR, Govt. Siddha Medical college for the past 5 years. From the Scientific data (includes published & unpublished) which we have collected from our biochemical, invitro, invivo experiments showed the efficacy and potential of our own (Tamil) Traditional Siddha Medicines.
The preliminary results about NKC were already discussed with Our Health secretary and State Licensing authority (Indian Medicine) and we requested for funding for further research on NKC.
As a Scientist working on Scientific validation of Siddha Medicine I strongly support the NKC scientifically (Preliminary data).
NKC is one and only antiviral drug, gift of Siddhars and prescribed by representatives of Siddhars (Siddha Practitioners).
If anybody wants, we can show, share and explain the scientific data about the Nilavembu kudineer anytime with anybody.
