Varmam in siddha systems of medicine

VARMAM AND PRANA FLOW IN SIDDHA SYSTEM OF MEDICINE
 Varmam is a salient branch of Siddha system of medicine that works through regulation of life force (Pranan).
 There are three prime channels in the body namely Idakalai, Pinkalai and Chuzhimunai, which along with seven sub-channels form the Dhasa vaayu /Dhasa naadi. They divide as various branches and anatomize at definite sites technically referred as Varmam in Siddha literatures.
 The flow of pranan inside the channels is maintained uniformly. Any variation in this flow may account to manifestation of a disease/derangement which is aptly coined as Varma Eedu /Varma Kaayam/ Varma Injury.
 If these varma points are manipulated tactfully, it may restore equilibrium in the flow of pranan. Such retrieval points are called Varma Adangal/Illakumurai.
 Henceforth, with the therapeutic intervention of Varmam, various ailments can be cured by restoring/regulating flow of pranan.
